Improved Billable Rate management
Monograph wants to make it easier for you to set up and manage the roles and rates that you use to configure projects and issue invoices with a new management page in Settings named
Billable Rates
. Creating roles and billable rates
Each
role
is associated with a set of billable rates
(formerly known as rate tables). Each role created should reflect the type of work that you charge services for and each billable rate should reflect the fees inclusive of profit margin that you charge your clients. When creating a new role, you can now create as many of your billable rates as you need to in one step. Name your rates with something descriptive to differentiate them from one another. Role and billable rate names appear on Projects, Staffing, Timesheets, and on Invoices.
When you want to add a new billable rate, click "Add billable rate" on the specific role.
Managing roles and billable rates
Updating billable rates:
A major change with this update is that your rate changes are all forward looking. Edits can only happen until the scheduled effective date. This is an intentional change to protect your data. If there are any changes to rates, this will cause a changes to all project data tied to that rate and lead to issued invoices with mismatched data.
Assign as default:
You can now set default roles and billable rates on the billable rate itself (in addition to the profile itself). Default roles and billable rates are assigned by default when an employee is assigned to a project. Removing roles and rates:
Once roles and billable rates are no longer needed, you can remove them by marking them as inactive. After deactivation, the archived role and/or billable rate isn't able to be added to a project or assigned as default but will remain on any project they are assigned. Inactive roles and billable rates are hidden and can be reactivated for use later if needed. We do not allow the deletion of roles or billable rates since doing so would also delete any project data tied to it.
More changes coming soon to show billable rate names on Timesheets
Monograph will be making billable rate names visible on Timesheets next Monday, October 11 to make it easier for you and your team to select the correct rate when logging time. What is shown depends on your permission levels.
